Hard file requirements (the listing will not publish without these)

You must provide at least two screenshots across device types. Files must be JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha channel. Each dimension must fall between 320px and 3840px, and the longest side cannot be more than twice the shortest. A 1080×2400 “tall phone” image fails that 2:1 cap (2400 ÷ 1080 ≈ 2.22) and is a common rejection.

Wear OS and watch faces have extra rules: 1:1 images, minimum 384×384, the watch UI only, and no device frames, extra text, graphics or fake backgrounds. Android Automotive screenshots must use a generic system UI, not a specific car OEM. Those form factors are out of scope for this browser tool, which targets phone and tablet Play listings.

Recommendation carousels (highly recommended, treated as a requirement for those slots)

Some Play home and search surfaces show apps in a large screenshot format. For apps, Google says you must provide at least four screenshots at 1080px or larger. Portrait must be 9:16 (minimum 1080×1920). Landscape must be 16:9 (minimum 1920×1080). Games need at least three of one orientation at those sizes.

Screenshots must show the actual in-app experience. Stylized sets that split UI across tiles are allowed, but the first three should prioritise real UI. Do not show fingers tapping the glass unless the product is used off-device. Taglines are optional and must not occupy more than about 20% of the image. Add alt text of 140 characters or fewer; do not start with “photo of” or “image of”.

Wording and graphics you cannot put on a screenshot

Do not use ranking, awards, testimonials, price or promo copy: “Best”, “#1”, “Top”, “New”, “Discount”, “Sale”, “Million Downloads”, “Editor’s Choice”, and similar. Do not use calls to action such as “Download now”, “Install now”, “Play now” or “Try now”. Do not add Google Play badges, other store badges, or third-party marks you do not have permission to use.

Google also advises against extra device frames on preview assets because they date quickly and can be cropped on large-screen Play surfaces. Localize any overlay text for each listing language. Clean the status bar (no carrier names or notifications; full battery and signal) before you capture.

How this generator maps to those rules

Switch the target to Google Play and the canvas is 1080×1920 (9:16), 1920×1080 (16:9) or 1600×2560 (tablet). Export defaults to JPEG when you pick Play. The review step flags PNG alpha, banned overlay words, long taglines, device frames, and sets shorter than four tiles. Nothing leaves your browser; you still upload the zip in Play Console yourself.
