MOT Ready is a UK pre-MOT check. Photograph something on your car, or describe it, and we tell you whether it looks like a potential MOT issue.

Getting started

Open MOT Ready and tap Scan one item.
Allow camera access if you want to take a photo.
Photograph the part, or type what you have noticed.
Read the result. It is not an official pass or fail.

Pro users can run Check my whole car for an 8-photo walkaround.

Free scans and MOT Ready Pro

You get one free scan per day.
A further scan the same day opens the paywall.
Plate lookup still works within a daily cap on the free plan.

MOT Ready Pro is a one-time App Store purchase (no subscription). It unlocks:

Unlimited scans
Detailed MOT-rule explanations
8-step whole-car inspection, checklist, saved scans, garage extras and PDF report

Restore purchases

Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases. Use the same Apple ID you used to buy Pro.

If Pro still does not unlock, email us with your App Store purchase receipt.

Frequently asked questions

Does MOT Ready upload my photos?

Yes, for a scan. The photo or description is sent to our API so an AI model can compare it with UK MOT guidance. We do not keep a photo gallery of your scans on the server in the current version. Saved results on Pro stay on your phone.

Can this tell me if my car will pass or fail?

No. A photo cannot reproduce an official MOT. The app only says looks OK from this photo, worth checking, or potential MOT issue.

I bought Pro and changed phones.

There is no login. Pro follows your Apple ID. Open MOT Ready on the new phone, open the paywall, and tap Restore purchases with the same Apple ID. Saved scans and garage cars are not copied across.

Does the app need an account?

No. No sign-in required.

Where does plate history come from?

UK registration lookups go through our server to DVLA (tax/MOT status) and, when approved, the DVSA MOT history API.
