Privacy Policy

MOT Ready is a UK pre-MOT check app. There is no account to create. This page explains what leaves your device when you use a scan or a number-plate lookup.

Photos and descriptions you submit

When you run a scan, the photo and/or the text you type are sent to our API (hosted with ievent.ro) and then to OpenAI so we can compare what we see with UK MOT guidance. We do not use those images to train a public model on our side, and the current version does not keep a photo gallery of your scans on our servers. Results you save with Pro stay on your phone.

Number plates

If you enter a UK registration number, we send it to DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and, when our DVSA access is approved, the MOT History API, so we can show tax/MOT status and test history. Do not enter a plate you are not entitled to check.

What we do not collect

• We do not require an account, name, email, or profile to use the app.
• We do not read your location or GPS.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.

Purchases and device identifier

MOT Ready Pro is an optional one-time purchase. Payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, and purchase validation is managed by our payments provider (RevenueCat). We never see or store your card details. To keep the free-scan count in sync and to restore Pro across your devices, the app uses an anonymous device identifier that is not linked to your name or email. Pro itself is tied to your Apple ID: Restore purchases on a new phone.

Diagnostics

Any diagnostics we receive are aggregate and anonymous, used only to keep the app working. They are not tied to your identity or your images.

Not an official MOT

Results are pre-check guidance from a photo or description. They are not an official MOT and cannot say pass or fail.

Children

MOT Ready is a general-audience vehicle tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly gather information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
